What a fun summer it has been so far! A lot of surprises and firsts. For those of you who don’t know Dan and I are expecting again. Alex will be a big brother!! I am due January 11th, 2010. We are super excited. It was not a total surprise but we didn’t expect it to happen so fast.
As for Alex, he just started really walking this past week. When he took his first few steps a few weeks ago I couldn’t contain myself and would cheer every time. Now I hold back so I don’t scare him with my loud cheering. I do say “Yay Alex” to which he smiles brightly. It is so awesome to watch him toddle around. He is so proud of himself and usually laughs as he is trying to keep his balance. We have been going to the park a lot more too, which is fun for him now that he has even more independence. There have been many other firsts for Alex such as:
· Going to his first parade – Berthoud Days Parade
· Walking
· First real experience at the pool
· Eating his first peanut butter and jelly sandwich – this a big deal in my family
· Eating his first bite of icecream
· First time on a boat
· First time in a front facing car seat
· Visiting the Denver Zoo
· Visiting 16th Street loved the jugglers…
· Visiting the Jerusalem CafĂ© and dancing to the music…
· Climbing around the neighborhood park
· Experiencing his first Firework show
I am sure there are even more things to mention. Hopefully I can post some video of Alex walking soon. We are having so much fun watching Alex. We love seeing his little personality develop. I know I keep saying that but I really cherish these times!! We are having so much fun meeting more people in the neighborhood as well as spending time with friends and family. We feel so blessed. Dan has been such a sweetheart. The love that I feel for him grows deeper every day especially watching him with Alex.

With all the fun with Alex there are challenging moments too…like putting on shoes, wiping his face, diaper changing, getting dressed…all of this he absolutely despises at the moment but with time we will work it out. Dan and I are learning that Alex is watching us at every moment – even from this young age…

I pray daily for both Alex and I for grace, wisdom and self control. I know he is only one but you have to start early –right? I am learning to die to myself daily and realize that there is no more room for selfishness with a toddler. I am also realizing that I am not perfect nor will I ever be so Alex, Dan and I will grow in grace together. I need the Holy Spirit to help me everyday to be the best mom and wife I can be. One of my favorite verses is Phil 4:13 –“I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.” Praise God that I am not in this life alone. Thank you Jesus for all of the joy you give and all of the lessons you teach me daily. I hope this post finds you enjoying the summer as much as we have!!
